Rules


  1. Your short film submission must not exceed 30 minutes in length.
  2. Only films in DVD format will be accepted. Please submit 2 copies. (Affix a label to each copy including Primary Contact name, address, phone #, and film title)
  3. Once a film has been submitted, we will not accept a new cut at any time.
  4. Your film will not be returned to you unless you include instructions to do so and a prepaid mailer. Please do not send masters.
  5. Please enclose your entry fee with your film and deliver by the stated deadline on this year's Call for Entries.
  6. Entry fees are non-refundable.
  7. Make checks payable to "Veneration", and mail your fee with your film to 28 Harpersville Rd, Newport News, VA 23601, C/o Veneration Film Festival.
  8. By submitting your film, you give Veneration the right to copy material for non-commercial use.
  9. X-rated works or works deemed inappropriate for this competition as a result of excessive graphically violent, sexual or profane content will not be accepted.
  10. All copyrighted music used in your film must be approved for use. Veneration Film Festival accepts no liability for copyright violations on the part of individual film competitors.
There will be many awards for each class and genre, including best narrative, best documentary, best cinematography, best musical score, and best screenplay. Also, awards given for Best of Festival and Audience Favorite.


Mission: To explore redemptive themes through film in order to: promote the art of storytelling, provide exposure and education for aspiring filmmakers, and build community on the Virginia Peninsula.
